3.           Chiufen (means 9 -chiu and pieces-fen) is located on these amazing top of Taiwan steep and narrow mountains area in Ruifang District of New Taipei City near to Keelung. Legend believes that on this mountains lived 9 families in this village. Back then, there were lack of transportation which made trips to the markets inconvenient. Therefore, whenever 1 family went to the market, they divided the groceries into 9 pieces to be shared by the 9 families. Thus, the name 9 pieces derived. It is a prosperous village with lots of tourists visit and has many shops selling local dishes, snacks and souvenirs. However, was told not to buy tea from here as they are imported from Vietnam (was told to be possible to contain radiation/ nuclear/ bomb effect in the products. Needs to read on the history of Vietnam).

Us @ Chiufen, a busy place on a mountain.

I bought some snacks from this touristy gift shop in which our tour agent brought us here:peanuts (black peanuts, green wasabi and black charcoal flavours) and black sugar ginger tea (jiang mu cha) there.

Chiufen Old Street -narrow and crowded. Beware of your own belongings.

The so called famous beef noodles stall.
Had lunch there as well whereby it wasn't covered by our tour for today:

4.           Tourist Pearl Shop (beauty products/supplement/ accessories) @ Taipei. We were brought to this shop for a visit. The sales ppl were very determined and persevere to sell us their range of products made from pearls. I newly learned from this trip that we can actually eat pearls in order to treat symptom like cough? and there's something that interests me, pearl eyedrops for tired eyes? I saw the sales person demonstrated to us by mixing the pearls in the solution (believed to be saline) and then filtered through a given filtration and that it is ready to be dropped on the eyes. Ermmm...no comment. Given that I'm a scientific-based person, definitely I wouldn't drop it on my eyes after seeing on the simple preparation. I am quite skeptical. My eyes may not be perfect, but I wouldn't want to go blind.
When I came back, I told my mom about this excitedly, and to my surprise, she told me that some ppl consume pearls and could be bought from the Chinese medicinal shop? Ooops. I thought pearls were for accessories/ decoration/ ornaments. FML~ But logically, pearls contain calcium components which I think would benefit our humans bones la~
