Trying my hands out in making Korean Bibimbap (literally means mixed rice). Lately, I have been a fan of bibimbap. Therefore, I have been thinking of doing this for sometime. So that if it worked out fine, I may not be ordering this when I am at the Korean restaurant. I rather order some other food than bibimbap to try right? ;)
Here goes.
Get to the supermarket to buy 5-6 ingredients
(usually a bowl of healthy Bibimbap consisted of 6 types of vegetables and an egg):
1. Gochujang sauce (hot pepper paste)
2. Any vegetables (Kailan, carrot, Japanese cucumber)
3. Any mushrooms (Shimeiji)
4. Eggs
5. Sausages (added a specialty here for the fun of it. haha~)
6. Crispy Seaweed
First, cut the vegetables into slices..
Prepare a pot of water and then heat it up to boil it in order to have a quick blanch of those ingredients.
At the same time, cook some rice as appropriately to the portion of servings.
Blanching vegetables (to decontaminate any bacteria living on the vegetables and to soften the vegetables, according to preference)
After blanching and cooking the ingredients, place everything on clean plates.
Add some sesame oil on top of the vegetables and mix lightly.
I also added a bit of white pepper on top of the shimeiji mushrooms for some ummph. :P
Then, fry an egg for each bowl of Bibimbap.
Next, place some rice onto the bowl and follow by the decoration of vegetables and other ingredients at the edges around the bowl.
Cut tiny slices of crispy seaweed and decorate on top of the fried egg.
Gochujang sauce (hot pepper paste), Classic Korean brand that was purchased from the supermarket.
Gochujang sauce was added according to preference onto the bowl before mixing the bowl of happiness (without this sauce/paste, one can't simply call this Bibimbap) :D
A bowl of healthy Korean Bibimbap which is ready to be served (according to Jackie's style) ;)
A mixed bowl of healthy simple food for dinner *yum yummm* :D
~The End~
