Fancy eating some fresh seafood when you're in Birmingham, Britain?
Then, head to the city centre's indoor dry market~ :D
Anyway, I like eating seafood and moreover Penangites like me, always have an easy access to seafood as we're living nearby the sea (just like Venice is in an island by itself and surrounded by the sea).
My plan here was to hunt down for some huge & reasonable priced fresh oysters (the powerful aphrodisiac from the sea) caught from the English channel.

When you're in Britain, do as the Brits do. with the Great Britain flagsssss.... ;) Here at the indoor environment, you can find meat stalls selling poultry meats too apart from seafood stalls. There are several stalls selling the same kind of items too. So, you can choose whichever stall you are fond of to buy your fresh food from. |

Stopping by at the Gary Barlow's (kidding~ he's an English singer & song-writer, used to be from Take That group in ages ago) stall to buy some fresh fishes. You may read from the blue signboard which says A.J. Barlow. I was told by my sis that their fishes are fresh and they are selling a whole lot of varieties here. Cheers to them (the friendly fishmongers showing their peace sign).~ ✌ |

These are some of the fishes that they were selling at that day. |

Next, now it's my turn to grab some aphrodisiac to make me an Asian Aphrodite (the Goddess of Love, Beauty & Sexual Rapture)~ lmao~ |

We got a dozen (12 oysters) for £9.25 (take out). So, technically, 1 oyster was equivalent to £0.77, which was 3 cents cheaper than buying it individually. lol~ If I were to convert to Malaysian Ringgit (RM), it would be RM 4.23/oyster. It's around the same price in which I could get, back in my home country. OK, I will tell you guys later if those oysters were really worth the price I paid or did we get cheated. :P Stay tune~~~ Not sure if these were the cheapest one could get in the city then. Since I wanted to eat it, then no choice la. Take it, or leave it. The lady who served us wasn't that friendly though. ugh~ :/ It would definitely be nice and brighten up the customers' day if one served them with a smile. From that, one could attract more customers too, right? :D |

I got a bit confused at that time and I thought this sumuri flavoured lobster tail was really from the lobster. Actually, when we purchased it, I just realised that it was a flavoured lobster. So, it's a fake one!! Aiya~~ foolish me~ Luckily, we just got one to try. I was and am still tempted to eat lobsters. I could get flavoured lobsters at anytime & anywhere. |
Fancy how to open the aphrodisiac oyster? Follow the steps above, just like my oyster expert did it. XD
1. Get ready your oysters & a screwdriver.
2. Break open it using the screwdriver at the middle of the oyster, the place where the two shells connect with each other. (You may need a lot of strength...biceps, triceps...lol)
3. When you're almost there, then you may use your hands to open it easily.
4. When you've successfully achieved that, use a spoon to scoop the fresh oyster out and squeeze either a cut lime or lemon (to kill any microscopic microorganisms attached to the oyster)

Yum Yum...here's one of my fresh oyster! Damnnn, they were all so juicy and sweet as if you've added some sugar in them. Believe it?! Unbelievable right? To compare, usually, the fresh oysters I had in low class or high class restaurant hotels, they were all tasteless and you may also need to shake a bit of Tabasco sauce (prepared by the restaurant hotel) on it before eating, apart from the lemon squeeze. |
|
We bought a pot of sweetened herring to try too. I think it was around 1 pound something. It was not bad la. Tried spreading on a slice of bread to eat it together.Otherwise, I fancy that the taste was too strong. |

Some real nature flowery decoration along the Bull Ring side walk. |

Zoomed in effect of the nature shot. |
That's all about the Indoor Market, fresh seafood & Aphrodisiac. Cheers~
